The National Board Remembers Robert Cate

The National Board is deeply saddened to learn of the April 9 passing of former Louisiana Chief Inspector Robert “Bob” Cate. Mr. Cate was 75.

Cate served as Louisiana chief inspector from 1993 to 2004.

A Nebraska native, Cate began his career in 1970 as a steamfitter with the Omaha Public Power after serving eight years in the US Navy.

Cate joined the insurance industry in 1978, working for Continental Insurance and Kemper Insurance companies, before joining the state of Louisiana as a field inspector in 1993.

He held an IS Commission with A and B Endorsements.

Cate is survived by his wife Judith, sons Michael Cate (Jessica) and Robert Scott Cate-Cribari (Jill); daughter Carol Hill (David); stepsons Curtis Schoech (Emily), William Schoech (Julia), and James Schoech (Tawnya); stepdaughter Ann Allgood; and 13 grandchildren.
