NB-370: A Vital Resource for Inspectors – and a Reminder for Jurisdictions

NB-370, National Board Synopsis of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Laws, Rules, and Regulations, remains one of the most valuable reference tools available to the inspection community.

Updated annually, this publication provides an overview of each jurisdiction’s boiler and pressure vessel requirements across the United States and Canada. For inspectors, manufacturers, and other industry professionals, the “Synopsis” serves as a quick and reliable source for comparing regulations, identifying jurisdictional contacts, and ensuring compliance with local laws.

As the new year approaches, the National Board reminds all jurisdictional authorities that updates to the NB-370 are due January 31, 2026. Timely submissions help ensure the continued accuracy and usefulness of this resource for the entire boiler and pressure vessel community.

Jurisdictional chiefs are encouraged to review their current entries and submit revisions or confirmations to the National Board’s Jurisdictional Affairs Department. Maintaining current and accurate information in the Synopsis not only supports inspectors but also promotes regulatory transparency and uniformity across all jurisdictions.
