Member Announces Retirement
Steve Nelson, chief inspector for the state of Colorado, retired on February 28. Mr. Nelson was hired as the state’s chief inspector in January of 2008. After becoming a National Board member, he served on the National Board Committee on Qualifications for Inspection. Before joining the state of Colorado, he was a field services supervisor at Hartford Steam Boiler where he worked for 29 years.
Mr. Nelson is also an 8-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in the nuclear power program. He served two years aboard the USS Long Beach (CGN 9) before reporting for new construction duty on the Nimitz Class USS Eisenhower (CVN 69).
