Coming in the Winter BULLETIN

BULLETIN readers will learn about the changes and processes behind two new National Board reports in the upcoming winter 2013 issue, which releases in February.

First, the National Board’s Violation Findings Report has been modified in order to capture more complete and specific violations found during routine inspections. The new violation reporting program was launched for the 2012 third quarter reporting period.

Second, new measures have been taken to revive the National Board’s Incident Report, which was last published in 2004. The new Incident Report is based on information obtained from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) public database. This new, preliminary approach to the Incident Report is one step toward gaging pressure equipment accidents across the US.

Initial results of both reports are shared in the article.
