Dr. Luca Costa to Present: “Global Use of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code”

The National Board is pleased to announce Dr. Luca Costa as General Session speaker on May 12 at the 93rd General Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Costa is the CEO of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Genoa University in 1998 and served in the Italian navy from 1999-2000 and was employed in the Engineering Department for IIS Service in 2000. In 2000, IIS and the International Institute of Welding (IIW) awarded him the International Welding Engineer (IWE) diploma.

Dr. Costa has lectured on welding metallurgy, processes, and quality control and also has been involved in research, technical assistance, certification, and standardization activities. He was responsible for all the technical activities of the IIS dealing with Health and Safety and Environment in welding; he was an active member of the Italian National Standardization Body for Welding (UNI – Commissione Saldature) and was deeply involved in research and development projects in welding.

He has written several papers on the environment, health and safety, welding technology, and fabrication, which have been published in national reviews. He also co-authored several books and manuals dealing with welding and non-destructive testing published by IIS.
