Three New Online Courses Recently Launched

The Training Department recently launched three new online courses for inservice continuing education, bringing the total number of courses in the current catalog to 77.

Inspection of Historical Boilers is a three-hour course that provides Inservice inspectors with National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) requirements and real-life information regarding the inspection of historical boilers. Using primarily NBIC Part 2, Inspection, Supplement 2, and sample state inspection procedures, the course explores examination and testing requirements, including operational, internal, external, and structural inspection procedures.

Because of the historical nature and age of some of this equipment, the structural construction of steel plate, rivets, and welding is discussed. In addition, some repairs and alterations are identified that an inspector may see in the field.

The Testing and Maintaining Gas-Fired Boiler Controls course is two and a half hours and designed to provide the Inservice inspector with a general knowledge of boiler control and safety device testing and documentation requirements, from initial to operational testing and periodic maintenance over the boiler's lifetime.

The course Understanding Flues and Vents offers the opportunity to learn about the construction, installation, and sizing of flues and venting systems and to become familiar with some of the requirements found in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 54, National Fuel Gas Code, and NFPA 85, Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code.

Each course costs $75. For more information and to register, go to our Online Training Catalog. Click the BOILER AND PRESSURE VESSEL tab and then BPV INSERVICE.
