Welcome New Members and Congratulations on Member Retirements

 

Thomas Clark is the new member representing the state of Oregon. Mr. Clark served six years in the US Navy and worked in the nuclear propulsion program. He served as engineering laboratory technician and nuclear machinist’s mate onboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) during its final two deployments. His civilian career includes positions as equipment operator, engineering laboratory technician, and critical facilities technician. In 2015, he joined the State of Oregon Building Codes Division as a boiler inspector. In 2019, he assumed the role of chief.

Steve Harder is the new member representing the state of Arizona. Mr. Harder attended HVAC and refrigeration trade school at Wenatchee Valley College in Washington. He worked for The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company as an equipment breakdown inspector 2 from 2001 to 2019. He then became the chief inspector for the state of Arizona in March of 2019.

Nathaniel Smith retired as chief of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on May 30, 2019. Mr. Smith served in the US Navy from 1975 to 1999. He was a master chief boiler technician and served onboard the USS William M. Wood, the USS Mount Whitney, the USS Coral Sea, the USS Lawrence, and the USS Kalamazoo. His civilian career includes a post with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1999 to 2013 as a commissioned boiler inspector, and then with Zurich Services Corp. from 2013 to 2014 as a risk engineering consultant, before being appointed boiler inspector director for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Larry Leet retired as the chief of the city of Seattle, Washington, on June 11, 2019. Mr. Leet served four-year terms in both the US Army and the US Coast Guard beginning in 1969. His civilian career includes positions as an NDE examiner, boilermaker, fabricator/welder, quality control manager, and engineer level II inspector. In 1998, he became the pressure systems inspector for the city of Seattle before assuming the position of chief.
