ABMA President & CEO Randy Rawson Remembered
It is with a tremendous sense of loss the National Board learned of the Saturday, November 24 death of the American Boiler Manufacture’s Association (ABMA) President and CEO Randy Rawson. He was 64.
According to ABMA Board of Directors Chairman Kevin J. Hoey, Mr. Rawson’s passing followed a brief period of treatment for a recently diagnosed illness.
Mr. Rawson joined the ABMA in 1988 first as assistant executive director and then as vice president. He had been active in the Association business since 1978 where he was first employed by the American Chiropractic Association as its director of governmental relations. He had also served as vice president of the National Limestone Institute. Prior to entering the association business, he served as legislative and administrative assistant to former Washington congressman Mike McCormack.
During the most recent ABMA Summer Meeting celebrating the 125th anniversary of its founding, Mr. Rawson celebrated his 25th anniversary with ABMA, serving as President and CEO for the past 13 years.
“For that quarter century,” Mr. Hoey emphasizes, “Randy aptly served to champion the mission of the ABMA and did so with integrity and utmost professionalism. He will be remembered as a skilled salesman – and ‘showman’ – relishing in his public engagements, the ABMA’s monthly newsletters, and authored periodicals.”
Mr. Hoey’s sentiments were echoed by National Board Executive Director David Douin who called Mr. Rawson “a true champion of the boiler manufacturing industry.” According to the National Board official, “Randy’s efforts on behalf of the industry he loved will be missed by all who knew him. There was perhaps no better example of professional integrity and dedication.”
Among surviving family members are his wife Teresa and children Jamie and Zach.
