Denis DeMichael to Speak at the General Session
The National Board announces Denis DeMichael, senior consultant for The Chemours Company and Chairman of the ASME Subcommittee on Safety Valve Requirements, will address the 85th General Meeting May 9, in Orlando, Florida. His presentation is entitled, Overpressure Protection – Recent Improvements and Current Influences.
After graduating from Purdue University, Mr. DeMichael worked for DuPont for 40 years in various operations, maintenance, and technical assignments. He has been involved with relief devices for 39 years, including 22 years as DuPont’s pressure relief technology steward, and he holds the same role with The Chemours Company since recently retiring from DuPont. During this time he has taught 96 Pressure Relief System Design Seminars to over 1,800 participants.
Since the 1980s, he has been active with the American Petroleum Institute, the National Board, and ASME. He is currently a member of the API Subcommittee on Pressure Relieving Devices and National Board Subcommittee on Pressure Relief Devices.
His ASME memberships include the Technical Oversight Management Committee; BPV Section VIII; US Technical Advisory Committee to ISO/TC 185; and the Subcommittee on Safety Valve Requirements, which he currently chairs. His contributions to the technology were recognized in 2012 with his election to an ASME Fellow.
