Madiha Kotb to Speak at the 83rd General Meeting
The National Board announces Madiha Kotb, longstanding National Board member and current ASME president of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) , will address the General Session at the 83rd General Meeting in Bellevue, Washington. Her presentation is entitled, 100 Years of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
Madiha Kotb has been a member of the National Board for 25 years as professional engineer for the province of Québec. She was a member at large on the National Board’s Board of Trustees (from 1991 to 1993) and also served on both the Strategic Planning Committee and the Constitution and Bylaws Committee.
Last July Ms. Kotb was elected to a one-year term as president ASME. She is an ASME fellow and has been an active member of the society for 18 years. Her leadership involvement has included serving on the ASME Board of Governors and as vice president of Conformity Assessment. She has also served as a member of the ASME Committee on Governance and Strategy, the Council on Codes and Standards, the Committee on Ethical Standards and Review, and the ASME Subcommittee on Nuclear Accreditation.
Ms. Kotb graduated from Concordia University in Montréal with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering. Under her leadership, the Quebec jurisdiction was among the first to receive nuclear accreditation as an ASME authorized inspection agency.
