Initial Results of New Incident Report Now on Website

In 2012, the National Board launched a new effort to report the occurrence of pressure equipment incidents across the United States by researching information on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) public website database. OSHA’s resources were chosen due to its decades-long, fact-based, detailed reports of on-the-job accidents. Information about this new report can be found in the current issue of the BULLETIN (winter 2013, now releasing).

Initial results are now posted on the National Board website by clicking “Incident Report” in the “RESOURCES” box at the bottom of the homepage. This report reflects customized OSHA data gathered by National Board for years 2002 – 2007. Result categories are: Total Boiler and Pressure Vessel-Related Incidents, Total Injuries, and Total Fatalities. Detailed summaries of each OSHA report included in National Board’s results can be viewed by year.

Incident Report statistics will be updated annually in the BULLETIN and online based on new and available data from OSHA.
