National Board Seeks Industry Presentations

Presentations during the General Session are a key part of the National Board’s General Meeting.

Professionals within the boiler and pressure vessel industry are invited to submit presentation proposals for the 93rd General Meeting on May 11-14, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are seeking informative and timely topics relevant to the boiler and pressure vessel industry. The submission deadline is October 31.

Topics of interest include the safe operation, maintenance, construction, repair, and inspection of boilers and pressure vessels, as well as:

  • New technologies
  • Future developments
  • Ethics
  • Case studies
  • Safety valves and other unit components
  • Code development
  • Testing codes and standards
  • Risk and reliability
  • Training

Presentations for the 92nd General Meeting in Scottsdale, Arizona, covered a variety of topics, including:

  • Adam Henson, Recommendations Specialist at the US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board: “An Introduction to the US CSB”
  • Kan Xu, Engineering Fellow and Pressure Vessel Consultant at Linde Inc.: “Introduction to ASME Code Rules on Electrochemical Cell Stacks for Electrolysis”
  • David Rasmussen, Senior Advisor at US ITER: “Beyond the Headlines: A Path to Practical Fusion Power”
  • Victor Casada, Principle Engineer, Assistant Vice President, Machinery Breakdown at Zurich: “Lessons Learned from the Ultimate Catastrophic Event”
  • Hilary Lane, Senior Director-Strategic Partnerships at Nuclear Energy Institute: “Fission Vission: A Look at What's Next For Nuclear”
  • Mark Lower, Program Manager at Oak Ridge National Laboratory: “Pressure Testing: Fact and Fiction”

Presentations should be limited to 30 minutes.

Those interested in submitting presentations for consideration should send an abstract of no longer than 200 words in English (please do not include supplementary materials) to Wendy White, director of communications, at wwhite@nbbi.org by October 31. Speakers chosen to deliver General Session presentations will be notified by November 30.
