New National Board Executive Director Named

Minnesota Chief Inspector Joel Amato was named the new executive director of the National Board during a special Members Meeting on Wednesday, December 11. He is the eighth executive director in the history of the National Board. He will start his new duties on January 6, 2020.

Mr. Amato has been the chief boiler inspector for the state of Minnesota for 20 years. Prior to joining the state, he served in the United States Navy. He has over 30 years of industry experience. Amato formerly served as the chairman of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the Committee for Qualifications. Additionally, he is a member of the NBIC Main Committee, the Subcommittee for Repairs and Alterations, and Historical Boiler Subgroup.
