NBIC Available Via Subscription through IHS
The National Board has announced the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) is now accessible on the Internet via subscription through Information Handling Services (IHS) Standards Expert database.
Founded in 1959, IHS is a leading global source of critical information and insight, dedicated to providing complete data and expertise. It is the world’s most comprehensive and widely used collection of technical standards information.
“We are delighted to be working with IHS and to have the opportunity to include our publications in IHS Standards Expert – increasing awareness of NBBI to the many thousands of subscribers to this database around the world,” says Executive Director David Douin.
Mr. Douin emphasizes the NBIC will also remain available through the National Board Order Department.
An American National Standard, the NBIC provides rules and guidelines for installation, inservice inspection, repair, and alterations of pressure-retaining equipment. It is required in most United States and Canadian jurisdictions. First published in 1945, it has been available in a variety of formats over the past several years. The Internet version will replace the NBIC on CD-ROM, which will be phased out at the beginning of the document’s next cycle. Both hard copies and flash drives will remain available.
