R. Miles Toler Announced as General Session Presenter

The National Board announces R. Miles Toler will address the Monday General Session at the 81st General Meeting in Nashville. His presentation is entitled, The Day a Generation Died.

Mr.Toler has served as the volunteer director at the London Museum in New London, Texas, since 2005. The London Museum was established in memory of the 1937 New London school gas explosion that claimed the lives of over 290 victims, most of them children. This tragic event prompted the Texas legislature to pass a law requiring malodorants be added to commercial and industrial gas (otherwise clear and odorless) so that gas leaks could be detected by the distinctive “rotten egg” smell. The safety law was passed throughout the United States and remains in effect today.

Mr. Toler graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He has served in a number of engineering capacities, including most recently as a process engineer with Sinclair Engineering. He was employed with Reynolds Metals Company for 34 years at both the plant level and corporate level and held positions that ranged from process engineer to ISO 9000 coordinator.
