Quick-Actuating Closures are Back in the NBIC Spotlight

Quick-actuating closures (QACs) are a vital tool in industries where efficiency and access matter, but when they fail, the consequences can be catastrophic.

To address these challenges, QACs have been a focus for the National Board Inspection Code, where the section in Part 2, Inspection, has been rewritten and work continues in Part 3, Repairs and Alterations, for inclusion in a future edition of the NBIC.

“The reality is if we miss stuff, people could get hurt,” said Vincent Scarcella, Eastern territory director with CNA and the project manager for the Part 2 task group. “It can weigh on a person. We really care about what we’re doing, and we’re passionate about it. It’s because we’re protecting life.”
