The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (NBBI) awarded scholarships to four college students pursuing engineering degrees.
Madison McCarthy is a junior at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone, Maine, working towards a degree in chemical engineering. She carries a 3.9 GPA. Madison has interned at the South African Pulp & Paper Industries (SAPPI) Research and Development Facility. After graduating, she would like to be a process engineer in the pulp and paper industry and eventually become a technologist who creates industry-wide sustainable solutions. Her grandfather is National Board Commissioned Inspector John McCarthy.
Aarsh Shah is a sophomore at the University of Calgary pursing a degree in software engineering in Calgary, Alberta. He has a 3.9 GPA. Aarsh has worked in multiple roles in the Campbell Collegiate Business Program. Once he graduates, he would like to attain experience from a space agency and establish a technology company that utilities robotics and artificial intelligence to investigate life outside of earth. His father is National Board Commissioned Inspector Mineshkumar Shah.
Jacob Pringnitz is a junior at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, working towards a degree in mechanical engineering. He holds a 4.0 GPA. Jacob has worked with The United States Department of Agriculture performing condition assessments of the mechanical systems service as well as in other capacities. After graduating, he wishes to become an engineer that makes a difference in the everyday life of people. His father is National Board Commissioned Inspector Dusty Pringnitz.
Quentin Sharier is a junior at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, studying for a degree in computer science and engineering. He has a 3.0 GPA. Quentin served in the Army for eight years before attending college and currently works at Ability Matters, assisting people with disabilities. Upon graduation, he hopes to become an engineer in a field relating to artificial intelligence and robotics, and return to the Army National Guard. His father is National Board Commissioned Inspector and Ohio Chief John Sharier.
